APPLE PIE & OTHER LESSONS

Synopsis: As two sisters come together to bake an apple pie, they reflect on their relationship with their late mother, and how her struggles with mental health painted their view of motherhood, caregiving, and love.

Artist Anecdote: I made this in film school over Thanksgiving 2019. I was inspired by my desire to fill in the gaps of the few and far between stories my mother had chosen to share with me about her own mother over the years. I wanted to facilitate healing through speaking out loud that which was never given space to be spoken — for my mom, my family, and for those watching.
